HomeTeamsONLINE Sports Websites for Teams, Leagues & Schools
Customize your website layout, including navigation styles and a side column that will appear on every page of your site.
The layout of ALL the pages on your site can be customized by going to: Layout & Media > Site Layout
NOTE: Special effects such as gradient backgrounds and transparencies will not always display on the Site Layout page: use the Site Preview button to see how your changes look on the website.
Website Outline Display
The navigation links page displays an "outline" of your website layout. Actual page content and page style details are left out to so it is easier to see the navigation areas that you can edit.
If the site you are managing is part of a league, school or other organization, you may see some navigation and banner areas shown that are "owned" by a different website admin level; for example, the league website may control the links shown on the bottom of the page so that all teams in the league have a common set of links.
Navigation Areas Shown in Gray
Areas shown in gray are active, but not necessarily editable for your login. These areas must be edited when logged onto the proper level; TEAM, SPORT (multi-team) or HQ (multi-sport).
For example the HQ level might be the association that wants to have their banner displayed on all sites, but if you are setting up the links for a team you cannot change that.
Inactive areas
Some of the areas available to you for editing may not be activated, but you will see the link ">>> activate" - click if you want to activate them on your website.
An area may have been disabled altogether at the highest level (SPORT or HQ). In this case nothing will be displayed - it will remain hidden until the highest level activates.
Editable Areas
Areas that are filled in with the actual navigation or banners are the areas that you can edit. There are a number of possible features you can change depending on which area you are editing:
a) Links
When you click "links" above an area it opens a new edit window. The link edit window gives you several options for setting up your links exactly the way you want them:
- Activate links by dragging them from the "Unused" area to the Active area, and vice-versa. You can drag links onto the navigation in the order you want them to appear on your website.
- Create your own custom links. You get a set of standard links that come with your package, but you can also create new "custom" links. Just click the button to create a new link, give it a name and the page it will link to. It can link to a page on your HomeTeamsONLINE site or any URL you want. Custom links are placed in the "Unused" area when first created - you can move them to any navigation area from there.
- Once a link is created and made active, you can edit certain properties of that link. You can give a standard link a new name (or "label"). You can also rename custom links, as well as edit the URL that it links to.
- You can activate a dropdown menu to appear on any link that can then add "sub-links". Sub-links are similar to a regular link, except they are "attached" to a particular link and will appear below that link when a visitor "mouses over" that link.
b) banners
You can edit your banner area(s) from the navigation set-up page as well.
LINK TRICKS
When creating remote web links, add the following before the URL to customize the link
^http... : a carrot ^ before the URL will make it open in a new window, without the site links.
!http... : an exclamation point ! will make the link open in the same window, without the site links frame at the top.
