UPLOADING YOUR PHOTOS & IMAGES
There are many ways to upload photos in your site
Important: Never use copyrighted, illegal, inappropriate, or offensive images. Using these types of images on your site is a violation of the User Agreement.

One of the most common places to upload your pictures is in your text areas, such as the Home Page text areas or a Custom Page. There are many text areas throughout your site, and you can upload multiple photos into each text area.
Note: the Add a Photo button on the Home Page text editors can be used to add one cropped photo that will appear on the top right in a "News" format. Press Delete Photo and follow these instructions if you wish to upload a larger photo:
Using the Text Editors (all editors except HTML)
* In step 5, also note the default re-size option (Max Image Size) and the option to either rename or overwrite a new file with the same name as an existing one (same filename). |

A. The Image Uploader You use the Image Uploader when uploading your Logo as well as Player Portraits & Coach Portraits. It is a black pop-up box. * Images are automatically resized. Use the drop-down menu at the top to choose different resizing options. * Overly large images will cause the uploader to freeze. If this happens, see "Reducing Image Size" below. * Images can only be uploaded one at a time. Images can be uploaded in bulk in your text areas (Advanced Editor) and the Photo Gallery.
B. The Photo Gallery Photos can be uploaded under Layout & Media > Photo Gallery. Photos can be upload in bulk * Make sure this link is active on your site under Layout & media > Navigation Links. * You can click the image

C. External Images (IE Legacy) This is the only way to insert photos on Rookie Accounts.
You can link photos into your text areas from other sources on the web using the "Insert Image from Web" button. This is a text option above any text area when editing. All you need to do is insert the image URL.
To get the URL of any image on the web, right click the image and go to Properties. there is an Address (URL) section.
* Keep in mind that your image is linked to this source. If the image is moved or deleted form its source, the image will appear broken on your website.
Important: Only link to images on external sites that you own, or that you have permission to use. When linking to another site you are using their bandwidth and you must have the site owners permission. You also must obtain permission to use any copyrighted images. Check the website for their policy.
D. Slideshows: To add a slideshow to a text area, such as your Home Page or a Custom Page, you can obtain code at sites like Flickr and ImageShack.
These sites have features for uploading your images and adding them to a Slideshow. They also provide the HTML Embed code you will need to embed the Slideshow into your page. (TIP: search "EMBED" in the help section of the photo website for the details on how to get this code.)
To paste your code, first, edit the text area where you need to enter your HTML. If it is under Page Editors > Home Page, click "Edit" on the top left of your text area to open the editor. Click the "Paste Code" button to open the Paste Code (or Plain Text) box, then paste your code. Click the Insert button to add the Slideshow, then go down and click the green Save Changes button to update the site. |

Notes on our Auto-Resizing Extremely large file sizes are created by today’s digital cameras: the large file sizes are needed for printing, but are much too big for web pages. Oversized images may LOOK small on the page, but they may be "squeezed" in place, which would cause your web page to load very slowly. The auto-size feature takes care of this for you automatically. If needed, advanced users can change the auto-size dimensions using the drop down menu. The Height x Width (H x W) listed are maximum dimensions (in pixels) - the program will resize the image so that it would fit inside a box with the sizes shown, but the aspect ratio of the image will be maintained so that the image will not be distorted.
HTO has built in re-sizing tools to prevent issues with your images being too large for the web. If you upload a large photo-quality image from a digital camera, it will automatically be scaled down for you. This prevents issues such as increased page load times and broken images.
When you upload a photo for your website, the program makes a copy of your file on the web server for display on your page(s). It automatically resizes (auto-sizes) the uploaded image for best results. Note that your original file is left unchanged on your computer.
*For best results, resize photos to fit your pages BEFORE you upload if you want to control the image compression and quality yourself. Photos that are already within the size limits will be uploaded exactly as is. Uploading will also be faster if you resize first, since you will avoid uploading large files.
*Extremely large photos may still cause the program to freeze or an error to occur. If this happens, you'll need to reduce the size of the image before uploading.
Tips for Reducing Image Size In order to reduce the size of an image, you'll need to open the image in an image editing program, reduce the size of the image and re-save the smaller image.

Recommended File formats The most common file format for photo files is JPG (or sometimes JPEG). When you browse to find a file to upload, it may be hard to locate the photos. To filter out the files that are not JPG format, type *.JPG (in the file name input box, after the file browser opens) to locate the correct type of image files on your computer. Similarly, many text based images, such as logos, use the .GIF format, which you can search for by typing *.GIF in the file name input box.
Image Display and Browser "Cache"
Some browsers can be a bit "stubborn" and you may have to go to the tools or properties and change the settings. Check the help for your particular browser version, or contact support if you are still having difficulty with cached files.
Note that the administrator photo upload page is designed to "force" a fresh reload, so you will see the newest version of an uploaded photo. We did not do this on your "visitor" website because the cache system works well for public browsing, and this would make your pages seem slow to your fans. This problem occurs for website designers who will be making changes and previewing many times during one browser session.
