Image Size

To avoid issues such as slow load times and broken images, HTO has built-in resizing tools so that your images are not too large.

DEFAULT SETTINGS

The default size when uploading images is 600 x 800 pixels, which is a good size for viewing on a website.

To change the default size for a single upload, click Upload Files and in the popup, use the max image size dropdown to select a size.

To change the default size for every upload, go to Design > My Files and click the gear icon on the far right. Click File Uploads and use the Auto Image Size drop-down to select a size.

IMAGES WITH GREY AT THE BOTTOM

Files uploaded to your site must be less than 5MB in storage size.  If an image file is more than 5MB, the uploader will stop at 5MB and the lower half of the image will be grey.

To avoid the bottom of an image being grey, the JPEG quality of the image will need to be reduced using the editing program of your choice.  Reducing the quality to about 80% is a subtle change but will make your images load faster.

For viewing on the internet, images do not need to be larger than about 300 pixels wide (about 30 KB) at most. You can save well over 150 images per 5 MB space at this size.

CHANGING AN IMAGE FILE SIZE

We recommend using Google to search for the best solution for you to resize your images.  The internet offers many free online resources along with many forums that offer step-by-step instructions using the program you choose to use for resizing.

A good resource that many Windows users have access too is Microsoft Paint.  Search "resizing images using Mircosoft Paint" for current information on resizing using Paint.
