Website Colors

To open the color picker, click on the name of the area you want to change.

The WEBSITE COLORS page (Layout & Media > Colors) allows you to experiment with different color combinations so you can make great looking pages for your site.

You can jump right in and pick the two main colors for the website using the Basic section on top. You can also use the Advanced section to edit even more color areas, and you can even use a background (BG) image.

Basic
Just click on one of the color areas and a color picker tool pops up. Simply click the color you want to use and see if you like it in the preview. When you use the Basic color pickers, your text and link colors are automatically determined for you, along with other color areas. The text colors will be chosen so they are easy to see on your background color. (Notice that the color will be also previewed in the advanced section as you edit the basic section)

IMPORTANT: Always click the Save button when you are ready to keep your changes!

NOTE: If you previously set certain colors in the Advanced section, you will likely not want to use the Basic section unless you want to reset your text and link colors.

Advanced
You have more areas to select when you use the Advanced  color picker section. Click the name of the color area to edit its colors. You can fine tune the color of your links, your background (BG), and your banner area, for example.

TIP:  Make sure your Text and Link Items are not the same color as the background. For example, white Links on a white background will be invisible, making your pages confusing and difficult to navigate.

Page Background Image
PRO-STYLE users can upload a custom background image. You can select from some standard backgrounds, or upload your own image. The image file should be a .gif or a .jpg file, and we recommend you pick a small file size so you will not slow down the loading of all your pages. To upload your image, click the Browse button to bring up the directory of your computer. Locate the file you want to use here and hit the "Open" button. This should close the window and show the file name in the text box. Next, click "Upload" to add your image to the list. It will be called "Custom BG" (custom background). Now you can select your background and preview it. Remember you still must click the Save button when you are ready to make the changes permanent.

How to use the color picker pop-up tool

When you select a color area (by clicking on its name) a window pops up with a color palette (the color squares) OR if you choose you can click to use the color sliders instead. You can switch back and forth from the squares to the sliders as often as you would like when you are setting up your colors.

  • The palette of squares is easy to use, but not every color is available.
  • The sliders allow you to first pick the color hue you want by moving the vertical slider on the right, and then determining the saturation and brightness of the color by moving the circle inside the large square area. The sliders allow you to make a very close match of nearly any color.
  • For "expert" users, there is an option to type in the color code (available on both types of color pickers). If you don't know how to get the code, don't worry - you can get any color you need with the sliders. This is used if you have another website where you can actually look up the color code to get an exact match.

Tips
- Always check to be sure you can read "Text 1, Link 1, Text 2, Link 2" in the color preview after you edit your colors. If not, you picked the same or similar colors. You will want to click on those text/link areas and change the color. You can even use the Basic section to reset all the text, but be aware it will also reset other color areas. Make sure that these four sections are visible against the background each time you make a change or the text in many pages in your site will be invisible.

- Some sections of the site are not affected by the colors. For example, custom pages are always white. If you would like to change the color of a specific section of your site, send a request with the details to support.
