You can easily change the look of your website by selecting from a variety of styles. There is a preview pane, plus you can click the "preview in new window" icon to have a full view of the site. Save your style when you are happy with the look of the preview.

 

Notice that you also have check boxes to leave certain aspects of your site unchanged when you try a new style. For example if you want to keep your current color scheme you can view the styles without affecting your color choices. See the advanced help for more details.

 

TIPS FOR STYLING YOUR WEBSITE

HomeTeamsONLINE websites have many customization options:

• Overall Website Style
• Colors (including Site Background)
• Banner (including Banner background)
• Navigation

The Website Style page lets you choose a style quickly with a ready to go style which you can use, but you may want to further customize your website.

Colors
You may want to go to the "Website Colors" page to change the site to match your team or organization colors.  The colors page also has an "Advanced Style Settings" tool which allows you to change accent and border colors.

 

Banner

You can also customize the Banner with various options on the "Banner" page. You can use various backgrounds, and you can add create an animated team logo using the various options.

 

Navigation
Finally the Navigation Layout page allows you to activate additional navigation ("Nav") menus and a side bar menu. Each Nav menu can be customized separately so you can create a unique look using complimentary styles for your Nav.

Using the "Check to leave unchanged" Section

The Website Style page allows you to control whether certain elements (we will call them "substyles") of your site will be left "as is" when you pick from the style list. This allows you to mix and match styles and create unique designs without getting into detailed settings, or to create a starting point for further customization.

 

Simply place a check mark next to the "substyle" and that part of the website will not be changed as you select from the various styles. The "substyles" available are:

 

Colors - This is the main color theme, which can be customized further on Layout & Media > Colors

Nav Style - The details of the Navigation area(s). This can be further customized on Layout & Media > Site Layout

Banner - The banner can be customized on Layout & Media > Banner & Logo

Accents - This is an advanced pop-up tool found on the Layout & Media > Colors page. This has settings for the borders, top accent, and the section labels on the home page. (Detailed help is available on that page) You can check the box to leave your borders alone and still change your styles.

TIP: You can also use the styles page "leave unchanged" check boxes to apply only one set of "substyles" by checking everything except the substyle you are interested in. For example, check off Colors, Nav Style, and Banner but leave the Accents unchecked. THen you can try applying only the accents (which includes borders) wihtout having to use the advanced tools.
