Using Multi-Sport Organization Sites

OVERVIEW

Multi-Sport accounts are actually made up of any combination of team, league, or club sites linked together from the “main” account.

This allows many possible ways to organize your account, with the following key points:

  • Logging into the main site (home, HQ) allows you to easily “jump” to all other sites in your account from the Sports HQ dropdown.
  • Certain features are assigned to a specific TEAM or SPORT (league or club). For example there is no “main” roster or game schedule, as these must be assigned to the teams involved.
  • From the main account, you can easily add sports & teams during the 30 day free trial. Once added, you can jump to them from the Sports HQ dropdown. (After the trial period contact support to add credits for more teams & sports).

BANNERS, NAVIGATION AND STYLING

Multi-Sport sites have a special top navigation (Nav) menu with a listing of all the sport & team sites you create for your account. It is set up automatically as you add sites. This allows visitors to go to any sport or team in your account, and return to your main site easily. The link for the sport or team stays highlighted while they are on that part of the site.

Banners and site styles are also very flexible. When you add sports & teams they “inherit” the style of the main site. However, each site can edit and customize their banner and style independently. Contact support to discuss your organization site and we will help you get your site looking and working the way you want it.

GETTING STARTED

Once you create your new multi-sport account, you begin on the administration page of your “main” site. You start out with no sports or teams, but you can easily add them from the main account during your 30 day free trial. It’s up to you if you want to first try out features on the main (home) site, or start adding more sport/team sites to your account. There are a lot of options, so feel free to contact our support specialists to discuss your site.

PRICING

Pricing for a multi-sport account receives a special discount. Basically the price for each sport and team is added, and then discounted based on the total size of the account. During the trial period you can freely add sports & teams to get the set up you want. Contact us and we will be happy to help you get the best set up to fit your requirements and your budget.

TEAM, SPORT, or MULTI-SPORT?

Sports organizations operate in many different ways, and each customer uses their account in a unique way. We’ve designed HomeTeamsONLINE sports sites to be very flexible, using a few basic types of sites:

  • TEAM: A TEAM site is simple, it is one team of one sport.  A single TEAM site can easily be converted into a multi-team SPORT site.

  • SPORT: A SPORT site can have multiple TEAM sites, with divisions and sub-divisions. A SPORT site can be a League or a Club for example.
The SPORT site allows lots of flexibility, but all teams must be playing the same sport. The reason only one sport is allowed is to keep game scores, rosters, schedules, league leaders, and statistics compatible. (A SPORTS site may be a League, Club, or Multi-Team site.)

  • MULTI-SPORT: A MULTI-SPORT account can be made up of any combination of SPORT and TEAM sites. Examples would be a regional sports program that is made of of several large leagues, or a school athletic department that may have a single team for many different sports. MULTI-SPORT accounts are extremely flexible. (A MULTI-SPORT accounts may be any large Organization, Athletic Program, Sports Complex, or a School or University.)

TIPS

-Some miscellaneous sports use common scoring and do not have player stats. In effect, they are all the same sport, so you could combine them into one “SPORT” site. This is a great way to simplify certain sites, and reduce prices. For example, a school might have one “sport” site called “after school clubs” and combine a variety of activities into one site.

-Some Org users will track sports in a Custom Page (Page Editors > Custom Pages) You could customize a page for the team, like a Word document with text, pictures and information lists like schedules and rosters. Since custom pages are free, this would lower the cost of your subscription. This is popular for sports that typically don’t have a lot of information like Cheerleading.

-In order to input separate rosters for different age groups (example: Varsity, JV) you would need a multi-team site for the sport. Each of your sport accounts are single-team sites at this time. Let us know if you need multiple teams for any of your sports (the number of teams affects the pricing).

-You can mix and match upgrades. For example, you could have Pro-Style sites for sports that you will track stats, and Rookie sites for more basic sports
