File & Image Manager

Use the File & Image Manager to upload files & images, and insert files & images into your page. (Pro-Style or higher membership level required)

THE FILE/IMAGE UPLOAD TOOL
You can use this tool anywhere you can upload images or files (Photo Gallery, File Manager, etc.)

Click CHOOSE FILES to go into your computer and find the file, or drag a single file from your computer and drop it in this section.

Up to 30 Images/Files can be uploaded at once.
(For more than 30 files, import 30 at a time, then start over).

Limitations
There is no limit to the number of photos in your site or in a single Photo Gallery album. Note that to prevent loading issues, only the first 10 photos will display in a Home Page slideshow. The number of images and files in your site is limited only by the space you have available (review your space under Account & Upgrades > HQ Details)

FILE & IMAGE MANAGER
(Available on the CKeditor menu as a pop-up, or from the main menu: Layout & Media > File Manager)

Menu Options:
Search - filter the file display by typing text into the search.

Type - This is a drop-down that allows you to choose specific file types

Image View- Built into the editor is a very advanced image manager. When you click this tool you will see thumbnails of all the image files currently uploaded onto your website. Non-image files are handled in the File View. You can use the Type drop-down at the top to switch to the File View. When you click on an image you will see several options. Usually you will want to Insert into page to insert the image onto your text area. You can also change the width and height, and set alignment for text-wrapping.

File View - You can easily toggle from Image View to File View. File View is a list view, which is better if you are looking at documents.
Many common formats can be uploaded including:
pdf, swf, word, ppt, movie, excel, and more.

Upload Files - Click this icon to open the Upload Files pop-up dialog (see below).

UPLOAD FILES
(pop-up dialog)

The Upload Files pop-up tool in the File & Image Manager allows you to upload several files at the same time! (The original photos on your computer are not effected.) It is very easy to upload a group of photos from a digital camera, and you don't have to worry about oversized images.

Choose Files

Press the purple Choose Files button to open up your computer and choose your files. Choose multiple files by holding shift or select them individually holding Ctrl on your keyboard.

If you do not see this button, or cannot get it to work, follow the "switch to single-file uploader" button to use a simplified upload program that will only allow one file at a time.

Max Image Size

Your image files will automatically be resized for the web. note the "max image size" option on the bottom left. This is the size your images will be re-sized to. Click it to change the size.

Show More Settings
Click "show more settings" for several advanced options:

Resize: remotely/in browser
Normally you want the photos to be resized on the server (remotely). This will provide the best results. In a few cases, if you experience problems, such as the image getting cut off at bottom, switch this setting to "in browser".

TIP: Why is the bottom part of my image cut off and gray?

If your image is extremely large, the entire image may not upload to the remote server, which is why you will see an empty gray area. To fix this click "show more settings" and switch "resize" option to "in browser". If you are still experiencing problems, use an image editing program such as Windows Paint or Adobe Photoshop and reduce the size of your image and try again.

Same Filename
Sometimes you may be uploading a file with the exact same name as an existing file in your File Manager. Choose whether to:

add copy - add an number to the end of the duplicate file, preserving both files

overwrite - Replace the existing file, deleting the original in place of the new.

Note- both size and same filename defaults can be set under Layout & Media > File Manager in the Options tab.
