We recommend using the "paste" option in our importer tool (this is the default). Keep in mind you can import more than once to add to your lists, but make sure you don't duplicate any data.
HOW TO PASTE YOUR DATA
You can copy and paste lists of people into the import area. If you have a list in a text file, webpage, excel sheet, the easiest way to get the data into your sports HQ is to cut and paste. (You can use the shortcut keys of Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste if you are using Windows.)
If you have a handwritten list, such as a signup sheet, you can also type your information directly into the import area - separate your fields (columns) with commas. For example:
First Last, Phone, Email
Jane Doe, (555) 555-5555, janedoe@nobody.com
John Doe, (555) 555-5555, johndoe@nobodyelse.com
Jill Doe, (555) 555-5555, jilldoe@nobodytoo.com
✔ Tips: Type your list into a text document first, and save. Then paste from your save file. If you have errors such as a missing comma, it will be very easy to correct this and redo the Import.
Note: If you have a header line it can be included. You will be selecting what each column represents in the next step whether or not a header is included.
The Import tool will analyze your data and attempt to determine what your columns represent.
TEAM ROSTERS
If you are adding players to a Team, you must have that Team HQ active when you import.
LEAGUE ROSTERS
If you are adding players for many teams in a league, etc., you must include a column that lists the Team Name. Compare your data to the team names as listed on your main HQ site and try to match them. Be careful of teams with the same name, and make sure you include the text that differentiates the teams (for example, you may have separate "boys" and "girls" lists, but you may need to add the word "boys" to each team name to match your site.)
Since you can repeat the import process, you may find it easier to import in several steps. Contact us if you need help.
