Note that PayPal & Stripe will send transaction data back to your site for tracking - therefore you normally will not need to update payment status for PayPal & Stripe.
However, other payment methods will not return the status of payment. For payment systems other than PayPal & Stripe you will have to check your payment account to update whether the payment was received or not.
