HomeTeamsONLINE Sports Websites for Teams, Leagues & Schools
This page lists your tournament events. Everything else in HTOtournaments hangs off one of them, so it is worth knowing how the pieces nest before you add your second event.
| Organization Homepage | Your public page listing the tournament events you have coming up. Visitors start here and pick their event. | |
| Tournament Event | The whole tournament, for example your Fall Classic. An event awards several trophies, one per competition. Create one from Add-Edit Events. | |
| Competition | A group that competes for one trophy, usually a division or age group such as Boys 14U. An event can hold many competitions. | |
| Bracket | A Competition can have one or many brackets: round robin, match play, pool play, single elimination, double elimination, and custom brackets you build yourself. | |
| Teams and Pools | The teams in a competition, and Pools if you split them into groups. Teams can be made available for the Competition, and then assigned to a bracket slot. | |
| Advance to the next stage | A competition can run in stages. We use the term rounds for matches within a bracket, while a Stage is a new bracket. You can set up advancing rules, and you can override the advancing teams before you finalize which ones advance. | |
| Advance to the finals | The last stage, where the qualifying teams play for the championship. |
| Adding an event |
|
An event is the tournament itself, your Fall Classic. Add a new one whenever you run another. Give it the name people will search for, the dates, and the venue. Those three are what show on the card here and on your public page. Events do not interfere with each other. Spring, summer and fall can all sit in the system at once, and you can start preparing a later one while an earlier one is still running. |
| What sits inside an event |
|
An event holds one or many competitions, usually a division or an age group such as Boys 14U. Each one plays for its own trophy. A competition holds one or more brackets: round robin, pool play, single elimination, double elimination, or a custom bracket you lay out yourself. A bracket can run as a single stage or several. A common shape is a group play stage feeding a championship stage, with the qualifying teams advancing between them. |
| Your events webpage |
|
Your organization gets a public page listing the events you have coming up. Visitors start there and pick the one they want. Brackets, schedules and scores appear on it as you build them, so there is nothing to copy across or keep in step by hand. |
| Getting more events |
|
Your plan includes an allotment of events. get more events adds to it when you need another. Archiving a finished event releases what it was holding, so a club running the same tournament each year is not paying for last year's. |
