The New Lenox Pumas were defeated 5–3 by the Wellington Heat on Saturday in the Summer Ball Showdown.

Wellington built an early 4–0 lead with timely hitting, highlighted by RBI hits from Logan Braaten and a run-scoring triple by Jerdy Lopez. The Pumas battled back but couldn’t overcome the deficit.

Shea Leahy took the loss despite striking out five over five innings. Kevin Diaz earned the win for Wellington after allowing just two runs over eight strong innings while striking out eight, and Michael Carger picked up the save.

Offensively, Byron Wills drove in a run, while Mickey McDowell, Anthony Batshon, Logan Nagle, Sam Webb, and Nahzir Bergen each recorded a hit. Wellington finished with nine hits, led by Braaten’s two-hit, two-RBI performance, and played error-free defense.
