As Dave Scotts now 10U-1 renegades took the field against the Mascoutah Indians Sunday, they were confident in their ability to play as a team. Their hard work, dedication, and confidence showed as they marched onto the field with their heads held high.
The Renegades defense held strong not allowing the Indian’s to score until late in the first quarter, and held firm, not allowing the Indians into the end zone for the extra point. With just 44 seconds to go in the first quarter the renegades stuck back with #57 Sebastian Turner making a touchdown and #53 Nicholas Meddlin putting the ball through the uprights giving them the 8-6 lead going into the second quarter.
The second quarter was packed with scores as #7 Javion Morgan, #57 Sebastian Turner and #1 Ja’Markus Gary scored along with #53 putting 2xtra points on the board with another beautiful kick.
With 9:14 to go in the fourth quarter #2 Antonio Clanton Jr. ran in another touchdown, bringing the score to 34-6 Renegades. As the time ran down the Renegades ended the game with class by taking a knee on the 3 yard line.
Dedication, team work and good sportsmanship are what sets this team apart from the others. After last year’s loss in double overtime during the playoffs, this team has learned how to win and loose with class.
The 10U-1 Renegades will travel to Highland this coming weekend to face the Bulldogs at 2pm on Sunday September 22nd.
