From: The Valley Chronicle 8-2-10

Larry Minor Sr., who for two decades has championed girls fastpitch softball in the San Jacinto Valley. Minor also had the honor of throwing out the first pitch.......His softball organization, Minors Gold, and Valley-Wide Recreation & Park District are serving as co-hosts for the tournament......Minor told of the early days when, in 1992, he along with a host of supporters dreamed of building a softball complex. That dream is now realized as the Diamond Valley Lake Community Park with its eight ballfields.

Fifteen years ago, Hemet had only three to four softball fields, Minor said. "Now we've built close to 30, and when you return next time we will have five more finished."

His closing comment brought thunderous applause.
