"Learn the game the Coach McKenney Way"

The focus of Mac's Hoop Star Basketball is players' skill development at both our camps and within our AAU programs.  Our new AAU program will not lose sight of Coach Mckenney's philosophy. Work-outs and practices will be designed just like you are playing for Coach McKenney.  We will continue to bring in outstanding people to lead workouts led by Coach Mac and many of the scholarship players who have played for Coach McKenney.  We are teaching you how to train to be a college level player.

As famous coach John Wooden said, "It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen." Thus, developing sound fundamentals and enhancing your ball handling and shooting skills will help you to be the best player that you can be.

Don’t miss out on this new and exciting basketball experience with 5-time NY State Championship Coach and two time New York State Coach of the Year Bob McKenney!

Coach Mac's Philosophy

Today's players spend far too much time playing GAMES in the offseason. Unfortunately, this leads to good players continuing to practice bad habits rather than identify weaknesses and work to improve them. The off-season should be a time to work on improving the fundamental skills essential for every good basketball player.

My camp offers a fun environment with guided instruction to work on the fundamental skills of the game of basketball.

My goal is for every camper to leave camp with a structured skill workout that they can bring home to their driveway, garage or gym. If a camper adopts this workout regimen after attending camp, they will continue to improve their basketball skills with each and every workout.

Don't be fooled by the half-days or words "basic skills".  This camp is HARD WORK! Campers spend 3 1/2 hours moving from one intense skill breakdown to another. There are no long breaks like at other camps where they sit and watch other teams play or spend time "at the pool". We work hard and we have fun and leave tired at the end of each day!
