Thundercats Defeats Berserkers On Back Of Clutch Display From McCartney

May 3, 2026 vs. Berserkers

 

McCartney drove in six runs on four hits to lead Thundercats past Berserkers 12-2 on Sunday at College of the Canyons Baseball Field. McCartney doubled in the fifth scoring three, singled in the sixth scoring two, and singled in the third scoring one.

 

A play put Berserkers on the board in the top of the second. Berserkers scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to left field by Kim.

 

Thundercats tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a double by Rhodes, and a single by McCartney. In the bottom of the fifth, Thundercats broke up the tie when McCartney doubled, scoring three runs. Then an error followed to extend the lead to 6-2.

 

Thundercats scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Rhodes was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Slevira grounded out, scoring one run, McCartney singled, scoring two runs, and Felix singled, scoring one run.

Wright earned the win for Thundercats. The pitcher allowed three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six and walking six. Manning opened the game for Berserkers. The hurler allowed eight hits and five runs over four and one-third innings, striking out one and walking four. Nesson pitched three innings of shutout ball for Thundercats in relief. The righty allowed one hit, striking out four and walking one.

 

Thundercats piled up 13 hits in the game. Wright and Felix each collected multiple hits for Thundercats. Montanez paced Thundercats with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. McCartney stole two bases. Thundercats ran wild on the base paths, accumulating four stolen bases for the game.

 

Kim went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Leadoff hitter F led Berserkers with two hits in three at bats. H led Berserkers with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Tuck and F each stole multiple bases for Berserkers. Berserkers stole six bases in the game.
