Thackerville,OK.-(11/18/19) Providence College finishes in 9th place out of the 27 teams that qualified from around the country to compete for the NCCGA Fall National Club Championship. The tournament was played over the 6,643 Redbud and 6,722 Scissortail courses at the Winstar Golf Club. The Friars shot rounds of 372-378=750 in the 5 best score of 8 format and finished 17 shots behind defending champion Clemson University.  Dave Carey led the Friars with rounds of 72-75=147 and finished T19 out of the 226 competitors who finished the tournament. N.MYRTLE BEACH, SC. - (March 10,2019)  Providence had two teams entered in the NCCGA Spring Break Open at the Legends Golf Resort. The 2 round best ball of twosome format was played over the Parksland and Heathland courses.  The team of Alex Whitmore & Dan Hennessey shot a two day total of 151 to finish T16.  The team of Cole Manning & Mike Flanagan shot 157 and finished in 28th place out of the 46 teams competing.

 

 

N. MYRTLE BEACH, SC.- Providence College finishes tied for 10th place out of the 27 teams that qualified to play in the NCCGA National Club Championship. The Friars shot rounds of 390- 377 = 767 and finished 26 shots behind the champions from the Golf Academy of Myrtle Beach. The two day championship was played at the Barefoot Resort over the the  Par 72  6,708 yd. Dye course and the Par 72  6,637 yd. (5/30/18)  Providence College finishes in 11th place80-368= out of the 28 teams competing in the NCCGA National Club Championship contested over the East and West courses at the Norwood Hills Country Club.  The Friars shot a team total of 409 on the very demanding 6,985 yd west course on day one.  The team bounced back with a strong performance on day 2 shooting 392 on the 6,019 yd East course for a two day total of 801.   Grand Canyon University won the tournament with a total of 751 strokes.

  Ian Axford led the Friars with a two day total of 154 and finished T21 out of the 220 players in the field.

Rumford, RI.- (9/24/17) The University of New Hampshire shot a team total of 396 and beat the Friars by six shots in there annual match played at the 6,720 yd Wannamoisett CC.  Playing an NCCGA format of best 5 scores counting out of 8 players on each team, the Wildcats broke a 3 year Friar win streak. Leading the friars were Alex Jenkins (jr.) and Matt Torchiana (fr.) who shot 78 and 79 respectively. Here are the results:

Hanover,NH.- (9/18/17)  Providence College shoots 289- 301= 590 and finishes in 11th place out of 15 teams competing at the SHNU Penmen fall Invitational contested at  6,510 yd par 69  Hanover Country Club at Dartmouth College. SHNU won the tournament with a score of 555.  Sophomore Matt Carlson shot s 67-80=147 wich was good for a t37 finish out of the 81 men competing.  Here are the rest of the scores

Brunswick,ME.   (9/10/17)  Providence college finishes in 5th place out of the 10 teams competing in the Bowdoin invitational played at the 6.627 yd Brunswick GC . Cole Manning wins the the 2018 qualifying tournament shooting 2 over par 106 over 27 holes.  Manning fired a 71 over the 6,200 yd Agawam Hunt course to edge out freshman Dave Carey by a single stroke.
