The Mt. Hebron team had a rough start to the season, giving up nine goals in its first four games, and at the same time the Vikings were missing quality scoring chances when they had the ball.

"By the fifth game, we finally figured out how to score and we put together a string of seven games where we scored eight goals and gave up three. During that stretch we had four wins, two ties and a loss," said coach Bob Gibbons. His squad finished 4-5-2 in county competition and 4-6-2 overall.

After its early difficulties the Mt. Hebron defense, anchored by Shannon Palmer, came together. Palmer was supported on defense by sophomores Bridget Mackrell, Kieran Kelleher and Erica Vlcek and several freshmen including Morgan Beale, Sara Maltz and Jess Schroeder.

The Vikings' midfield was led by sophomores Abby Barber, Ashley Covington and Jess Hough, who were joined by freshmen contributors including Kathleen Carmean, Yaz Darrehmane, Zay Lassiter and Ashlyn Tavai.

The leading goal scorers this year were sophomore forwards Rowan Drake and Jamie Schwartz, who were joined up top by several freshmen including Peyton Otis and Jenn Skinner.

"It was a tough season where our youth and inexperience frustrated us early but the girls never gave up, kept working hard, and matured as a team showing some great promise through the balance of the season," Gibson said.

The Vikings count among their highlights a 1-0 victory over Centennial, a defensive game for both teams. Palmer made several great saves and Jess Hough scored the game-winner.
