Strong 2nd Half Declaws Panthers
3/14/2015

OP came out firing and put visiting Newbury Park in a 4-1 deficit after 1.  In the 2nd, the offense sputtered and NP took advantage and the lead going into the break at 6-5.  The 2nd half was all OP as Rosen dominated the faceoff X and Ridino came alive in the cage to limit the Prowler offense to a meaningless goal with 22 seconds remaining in the game.  The Eagles will be tough to beat this season if those two factors consistently happen.  The OP poles shut down the NP attack and a sliding Eagle defense made the NP midfielders a non-factor in the 2nd half.  In fact the OP defense limited NP to only 2 goals in the the 1st, 3rd and 4th periods.  Six different Eagles found the back of the net with Brendan Egan leading the way with 4.  Joe Peters (Jonah who) ripped top shelf on a fast break to seal the victory.

The JV torched the Panthers in the early contest with a convincing 15-3 win.  Torgove's strong play at face-offs, Brandon Bock's stout play in net and the Eagles strong defense all frustrated the Panthers all night. After a close-fought scoreless 1st quarter, OP led at half 6-2 and 6 goals in the 3rd was too much for the Panthers.  McCleery, Salzman, Hunter and Pisarcik all had multi goal games with McCleery leading the charge with 4 tallies.  Chandler, Robertson and Kleiser also scored for the Eagles.

The Eagles head to Crespi on Friday for another battle with a ranked team that took Palos Verde to OT on Monday.  JV at 5 and Varsity at 7.
