Eagles faced 2 quality opponents this week and 1 quarter in each game was the difference. On Monday, an untested and undefeated Westlake traveled to Oak Park. A disastrous 2nd quarter where the Eagles were outscored 8-1 combined with an anemic offense led to the worst defeat of the season for OP. Egan and Hughes led the Eagles with 2 goals each.
After the disappointing effort against Westlake, the Harvard-Westlake game became very important if the Eagles wanted a home first round playoff game. The Wolverines were a mirror image of the Eagles with records slightly above .500 but playing a very tough schedule. This time it was the first quarter that sunk OP, they were outscored 8-0. Even with this deficit, the Eagles battled back and cut it to 4 goals in the 4th but couldn't get any closer and lost 16-12. Consoletti led the comeback with 6 goals and 2 assists in the loss.
Final regular season game is at home against Oaks Christian. We will have a short ceremony honoring our seniors prior to the varsity game. Oaks Christian has been a thorn in OP's side for years. The Eagles consistently have a more talented team but Oaks always seems to steal 1 of the 2 games each year. Last year they beat the Eagles badly on Senior Night. Let's make sure that doesn't happen again.
