Good Week on the Road for OP

After a disappointing spring break, the Eagles hit the road for two must win games against cross town rival Agoura and Thacher.  The road hasn't been the Eagles friend this year with a 1-3 record away from the friendly confines of Oak Park prior to this week.

The Kanan Klash with Agoura on Tuesday was an exciting game from begining to end with the Eagles jumping out to a 3-1 lead but Agoura battled back to take a 6-5 lead in the 2nd quarter.  Halftime had the game knotted at 6.  Once again the Eagles jumped out to a 2 goal lead  only to have the Chargers battle back to tie it at 8.  The game winner came on a great stop by Dino and outlet to Joe Peters to lead the OP fast break.  Peters found a wide open Max Bulko who buried the shot to take the lead 9-8.  Some uneven play in the last 2 minutes by the Eagles gave the Chargers a couple of chances in the last 2 minutes but the defense held and the Eagles claimed their 7th victory of the season.  Nine Eagles tallied a point with Brendan Egan leading the way with 3 goals

Kanan Klash Highlights

The Eagles made the long trek to Thacher on Thursday with some extra JV players in tow since it was a varsity only affair.  OP came out firing and despite a great effort from the Toad goalie, who registered over 20 saves in the game, the Eagles took an easy 14-4 decision.  Once again seven Eagles had multiple point games with Evan Egan and Owen Consoletti leading the way with 4 points each.

The next week the Eagles face 2 opponents who will go a long way to determine what seed OP will receive in the playoffs.  First up is undefeated Westlake who has not faced a quality opponent outside of a weak Marmonte league and then Harvard-Westlake with a 7-5 record but like OP schedules quality opponents from all over Los Angeles and Orange County.  Victories in these games are vital to establish a high seed in the playoffs and a possible first round home playoff game.
