UND men’s hockey team announces signings
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota men’s
hockey coach Dave Hakstol announced today that two
players have signed national letters of intent during
the November 2006 signing period, bringing UND’s total
number of current men’s hockey signees to five.
UND’s two new signees include forward Brett Hextall
(Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and forward Brad Malone
(Miriamichi, New Brunswick), who joined defensemen
Derrick LaPoint (Eau Claire, Wis.) and Jake Marto
(Grand Forks, N.D.) and forward Evan Trupp (Anchorage,
Alaska) as players who have signed national letters of
intent at UND.
“This group of young men sets the base for what will
be an impact freshman class for our program,” Hakstol
said. “Ability, character and leadership qualities are
common traits among all five of these individuals.
We’re very happy to be able to announce this
significant group of signings and will continue
working hard to complete our freshman class of
2007-08.”

Forward (shoots left), 5-10, 155, Anchorage, Alaska,

Current Team: Penticton Vees (BCHL)
Trupp spent the 2005-06 season with Penticton of the
British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and led the Vees
to the league championship game. A 5-foot-9, 151-pound
forward, Trupp scored 20 goals and added 59 assists
for a team-high 79 points in 59 games, finishing 11th
in the BCHL scoring race. He added another 13 points
(five goals, eight assists) in 12 playoff games and
was also named BCHL Interior Conference Rookie of the
Year.
