Team to participate in Denver’s Largest One-Day Donation Drive

DENVER –- The Colorado Kings ABA basketball squad teamed up with 9NEWS for their 28th annual 9Cares Colorado Shares Winter Drive on Saturday, Nov. 13.  Colorado Kings players, owners, management and staff will be volunteering at the event. Fans brought plenty of food, clothing, toys and monetary donation to the Town Center at Aurora I-225 and Alameda.

The Colorado Kings and 9NEWS and their personalities hosted a sports-themed drive by collecting donations and facilitating a basketball free throw contest that will provide donors the chance to win an iconic ABA red, white and blue basketball and other prizes.  The team will also help achieve the goal of collecting 202 tons of food and cash contributions exceeding $121,000 by giving away free tickets to home games to the first 100 donors who provide over 5 lbs of food or $50 in cash.

The players were excited to give back to their community by helping to raise money and collect food for local residents in need.   Many of the players are native to Colorado, and played basketball for Denver-area high schools and colleges.  9Cares Colorado Shares is the largest one-day food, clothing and toy drive in the region and benefits Denver residents directly.
