Letter from Coach Ashley

Dear Parents, Players, and Coaches:

As some of you may know I am having a medical problem which is being quite stubborn.
On September 2nd of this year I had an accident on my ATV and could not get to the hospital for three days. I broke some ribs and had massive tissue damage to my lower right leg. The Doctors but me on steroids to reduce the swelling and were keeping an eye out for a condition called "Compartment Syndrome." All things seemed to be back in order within the month.

However, for some time now I have had a sore neck and thought I had to high groin pulls from reffing. It turns out they were signals of an infection beginning to get ahold of my body and it was the lymph nodes in the upper groin and neck that had been hurting. Last Friday morning after a second night of uncontrolled shivering and cold sweats...and the fact my wife saw my right leg hanging out from the covers we went to the emergency room where I was diagnosed with "Cellulitis" I leave the details of what it looked like out of the story.

It is not contagious...however it spreads fast and can be life threatening. I am now on an IV pump and was supposed to get off the drip an begin drug therapy this morning. However, after going to the doctors office he wants two more days of the IV treatment before I start getting off my back and outside standing on my legs. Because of the temperatures in the rink and the lack of mobility my circulation would not be as good as staying home with elevated legs and warm compresses.

Therefore I will have limited involvement with the team until hopefully at Thursdays practice.

I am sorry for the inconvenience and believe me ....I wanted to be there for the unveiling of the third jersey and the batle against DHS on Wednesday.

Sincerely,

Coach Ashley
