The district is cracking down on attendance this year. The policy is that if a student misses any part of the school day, they are not allowed to participate in a practice or a game on the same day, even if their parents call the school, and they are excused. The exception is if the student brings a doctor's note, obituary, or other formal note. I will paste the direct quote from the athletic director below. I receive an attendance update at the end of each school day, and if a player is listed, then they are not allowed to participate, unless they bring an approved note with them to practice.
"I want to clarify the athlete attendance expectation as we’ve run into some confusion. Please be sure to communicate this to your athletes and families. ALL student-athletes are expected to be in school ALL day if they plan on practicing and/or playing. If any student-athlete is listed on the attendance email Tara sends out daily, they are NOT allowed to practice or play unless they have a Doctor’s note/obituary or other FORMAL documentation (approved by me).
