Oak Park relied heavily on strong defense to win it's first CIF Tournament Playoff game vs. Chaminade Monday at Beverly Hills High School. Corey Whelan lead the defensive gauntlet taking the ball away 11 times from Chaminade. With help from teammates Eric Albers & Matt Caspari, the defense held Chaminade to just 5 goals in 68 minutes of play (4 quarters and five 4-minute overtime periods). Caspari came close to a dramatic assist in the 4th OT when he brought a clear up and assisted Zeolla who rifled a dramatic shot off the post at the buzzer. Trevor Goehring offered several heads up plays stealing long passes from the 'other' Eagle team (Chaminade). Zeolla had a nice interception too. Freshman goalie, Andrew Cohen, had 11 saves on the day allowing only the 5 goals in the 9 period game. Ryan Darling lead the offensive strike feeding 4 assists to teamates Max Ball, Grayson Phillips, Brett Zeolla, & Ryan Wiese. Oak Park's no. 10 Brett Zeolla scored his 3rd goal in the 'sudden death' 9th period (5th Overtime) to beat Chaminade 6-5.
