Heartbreak!

Oak Park looses a nail biter to Palos Verdes 7-8. With 1 minute and 23 seconds left to play, No. 13 of Palos Verdes shot the winning goal to beat Oak Park for the second time this season. The Ealgles held the lead at the end of the first and second quarters. Twice OP lead by 2 goals. Palos Verdes fought back, very physically, laying out Brett Zeolla several times. Zeolla stayed in the game and scored 4 times frustrating the Palos Verdes defense not used to being dazzled by such a slippery offensive player. Grayson Phillips added to the confusion by finding the net twice. Ryan Darling was able to penetrate the PV defense with two quick assists to Max Ball and Phillips. But it wasn't enough. Though the defense held the PV offense at bay most of the game, and delivered as much physical punishment to them as they did to OP, OP couldn't get the ball in the net late in the forth and turned it over to PV who scored on a fast break. Under the great coaching of Xander Ritz and Lane Jaffe, both past NCAA players and key figures in the Starz Lacrosse Club, PV showed extreme discipline and tireless persistence and made the fewest mistakes. Congradulations to PV and good luck to them in the Friday Finals vs. Foothill for the CIF SS Championships.
