Ducks Roll Into Holiday Break With 14 – 2 Record

South Anchorage’s Sam Cehula a Major Contributor

Oregon capped off a very successful first part of the 2006-07 hockey season with a 10 -0 and 4 – 1 sweep of the Gonzaga Bulldogs on December 1 & 2.  South Anchorage High School product Sam Cehula picked up a hat trick in Friday’s win.

Oregon now heads for the holiday break with an 8 game winning streak,  good for second place behind the Southern California Trojans in the PAC – 8 Hockey Conference. The Ducks are tied for 8th place with USC in the latest American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) West Region rankings. The Ducks resume play in January with a tough 3 game road trip to Utah before returning home to face the rival Washington Huskies on January 19 & 20.

Alaska players have been major contributors to Oregon’s success. Freshman Cehula is tied for 4th in scoring with 5 goals and a team leading 18 assists. Juniors Colton Clay and Brian Carr, both from Anchorage, and Kenai’s Billy Forrest are also among the team’s scoring leaders.
