Attention players and parents. The South Varsity Hockey team and cheer squad will be departing from South Anchorage Highschool  Wednesday evening after school (TBA) and heading to Wasilla to participate in the State Tournament. The brackets have been completed and released and we now have the early noon game v. Lathrop...the defending State Champ.
 
We are fortunate to have reserved some rooms at the Grandview Inn and Mr. Henry the Activities principal has been kind enough to add Wednesday night to our itinerary so we shall be staying in Wasilla Wednesday night also. The rooms will be paid for by the ASD. We will be staying Wednesday, Thursday and Friday ...night if we continue to ...in the Hotel and returning Saturday. The "Iron Dog" is also taking place in Wasilla and many teams are scrambling for rooms.
 
The team will be providing two meals a day and the school will provide one meal during the trip. Please plan on providing your son with enough money to purchase one meal a day and snacks according to their desires. I will be shopping at Costco and bringing fluids, bananas, energy bars, and some misc. food items for the hotel rooms and games.
 
Players should not bring large luggage. Please use small duffle bags for their personal gear. Coach Simmons will be bringing the skate sharpener and will probably take some of the gear. If there is any parent who plans to travel early like us please take some gear with you as the bus will be full of players, coaches, cheerleaders, and gear.
 
Please bring both jerseys regardless of what the brackets say and have your player do a gear check. We might be arriving two hours before our first game and it will be hard to get gear there if forgotten at home ...which seems to be a theme of late.
