Lincoln Dominates SIU
2/15/2011
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. (February 14, 2011) — Sharay DuBose scored a season-high 29 points, the most in a game by any Lady Lion this year, in Lincoln's 89-42 thrashing of Salem International University on Monday night at Manuel Rivero Hall.

It was DuBose's fourth 20-point game of the season with 25 of those points coming in the second half.

Lincoln (3-20, 1-14 CIAA, 1-8 North) scored the game's first 25 points, keeping Salem International off the scoreboard for the first 14 minutes. SIU put together one spurt, and briefly made things interesting, going on a 21-6 run in the last 6 minutes of the first half, but the Lady Lions were determined to not let this one slip away.

The main catalyst in Lincoln's 31-21 halftime lead was freshman point guard Cynthia Johnson who scored all 12 of her points in the opening period and notched ach of LU's three steals. Lincoln enjoyed a 12-4 turnover advantage at halftime and 22-15 for the game.

The second half was a sort of repeat of the first. Lincoln tallied seven quick points before SIU (0-20) answered with their first bucket out of the intermission to take control, 39-21.

With a plethora of treys, both teams adamantly played, but the Lady Tigers were just no match for the Lady Lions. With only six players on the Salem International squad, fatigue may have been a deterrent for the Lady Tigers.

Aside for DuBose and Johnson, two other LU players were in double figures.

Danielle Smallwood also contributed to the victory with 16 points powered by 6-of-7 shooting from the field and a deadly 3-for-3 from behind the arc. Senior forward DeJuana Mosley added 13 points. Mfon Ekanem paced LU on the glass with 12 rebounds.

The win gives LU two home wins in their last three games and on the year. Two of this year's victories have been decided by more than 25 points, the other being a 78-51 demolition of Washington Adventist University on Jan. 4.
