9/4/12 - UPDATE

2012 - "Unfinished Business"

Hebron Varsity falters late against the Cougars, the JV Girls win their first match.

The Varsity Vikings opened their season at Hebron and played great soccer for 70+ minutes, however the match is 80 minutes long. After failing to capitalize on several opportunities throughout the early part of the game the Vikings hit a rough patch and the Cougars were able to convert 3 opportunities in the last 9 minutes of the match and came away with a 3 - 0 victory.

The JV squad traveled to Fallston and weren't great, but were just good enough to earn a 2 - 1 victory over the Cougars. Sophomore Karoline Melan got in the book late in the first half finishing a beautiful corner served in by Freshman Megan Benoit.

After Hebron was called for a handball in the box, Sophomore keeper Anna Pallozzi came up big turning away the PK attempt and eventually clearing out the ball to keep Cogars off of the scoreboard.

About half way into the second, Freshman Jordan Stevens made a great run into the box and was pulled down by a Cougan defender. Another freshman, Sorana Larson calmly slotted the PK to the right side of the keeper to put the Vikings up 2 - 0. Fallston pressed hard for the remainder of the match finally breaking through late bringing the final score to 2 - 1.

The River Hill matches have been postponed until Tuesday, September 18th.

The matches are still at home. The JV Girls host the Hawks at 4pm followed by the Varsity Girls match at 5:30.
