SAHS Hockey Booster Club Meeting

Meeting began at 6:37 pm
Lisa introduced herself.
o Posters available
o Introduced Steve Belde
o Discussed Board positions open: President, Vice-President, and Treasurer. Secretary’s position may be changed. Board will not be picked until after try-outs. If interested, let Coach Belde know.
Steve Belde introduced himself.
o Described his philosophy and background.
o Discussed gloves and hockey bags that Champions Choice has agreed to carry if we order. Passed around a sheet showing gloves and bags and pricing. Will discuss further as the season gets closer.
o Looking for two (2) assistant coaches. Has one coach for JV program.
Practice Philosophy:
o Full contact/Full speed drills
o Small side games
o Off-ice training: Get a relationship with DryLand. Players would go straight from practice to DryLand facility in Industry Park – JV & Varsity participate.
o Looking at doing summer training at the school weight room and one ice sheet per week. Will probably not happen this summer, but trying for next year.
Expectations of Players:
o Great behavior on/off ice
o Code of Conduct for school behavior
Game Philosophy:
o Not guaranteeing playing all four lines
o May shorten bench
JV will not be shorted ice.
Varsity will be going to Fairbanks Jan. 20 – 22. Parents will pay for player’s airline ticket and room (2-players per room). Booster Club pays for meals. School District picks up one meal.
Rules:
· If you will miss a game/practice, tell Coach Belde as far in advance as possible.
· 24 Hour Rule: Parents are not allowed to contact the coaching staff until after 24 hours of the event they disagree with.
Coach Belde is not Coach Ashley and will take the team and create his style. Coach Ashley has laid a great foundation for this program. Some things will carry over from him and some things will change. As a coach, you can implement ideas that are conducive to the way you want things to work.
Lisa – Need to start think about fund raising ideas.
