Summer Ball Off and Running!
Summer basketball is off to a great start. This weekend both the varsity and JV teams took part in the highly competitive Southridge classic. Playing all top 15 6A teams from Oregon both teams had strong showings and improved as the weekend went on. Great job Papermakers!
 
Three make all-league teams
Congratulations to Sophomore Kendra Preuninger, Senior Kayla Roche and Junior Sydney Allen for earning all-league honors. Preuninger was named to the 3A Greater St. Helens all league 1st team while Roche and Allen earned 2nd team honors. Great job!
 
 
 
Roche, Williams to play in Les Schwab Roundball Shootout
Congratulations to seniors Kayla Roche and Melissa Williams who have been chosen to play in the Les Schwab Roundball Shootout to be held Sunday, March 20th at Battleground High School at 4:00. Come on out to support them!
 
 
Bi-District Playoffs start Tuesday
The Papermakers will open the Bi-District playoffs this Tuesday against Enumclaw. The game will tip off at 6:00 at Clover Park High School in Lakewood. The Papermakers are the number two seed from the Greater St. Helens League. With a win they would face Kennedy Catholic on Friday with the winner qualifying for state.  With a loss on Tuesday they will play Saturday in their next game. Good luck Camas!
 
Papermakers to play for district championship
The Papermakers gutted out a 35-32 win over Mt. View on Friday to reach the district championship where they will play Prairie at 6:00 Saturday night. In a game where defense ruled the Papermakers were able to get just enough offense to get the job done. Seniors Kat Devera and Kayla Roche each had 8 points, while junior Sydney Schwartz added 6. Congratulations Camas!
 
 
Team effort gets Camas into district semi-finals
Ten players scored in the Papermakers 61-48 win over Kelso on Thursday night. The victory put the team into the district sem-finals where they will face Mt. View. Junior Sydney Allen led with 15 points, while sophomores Kendra Preuninger and Lauren Neff added 11 points and 10 points each. Great job Papermakers!
 
 
Papermakers clinch spot in the Bi-district tournament
After a heartbreaking loss to Mt. View on Friday night, the Papermakers bounced back on Monday to beat Kelso 37-30 and clinch a birth in the bi-district playoffs next week. Sydney Allen led the way for Camas with 12 points and 6 rebounds while Lauren Neff came off the bench to grab 13 boards. Camas will now play on Thursday night in the district tournament. Congratulations Papermakers!
 
 
Strong Defense lifts Camas against Hudson's Bay
Once again the Papermakers used tough defense en route to a 42-26 win at Hudson's Bay High School. Sydney Allen led the charge with 5 steals to go along with her 13 points and 7 rebounds. Kayla Roche also chipped in 11 points and 9 boards in another solid game for the senior. Next up is Prairie on Friday night.
 
 
Papermakers play great defense in win at River
After racing to a 30-13 halftime lead, the Papermakers coasted to a 45-30 win over Columbia River on Saturday night. Defense was the key again in a total team effort. Kendra Prueninger had 16 points while Kayla Roche added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Next up is Tuesday at Hudson's Bay. Great job Camas!
 
Camas wins on senior night
The papermakers celebrated senior night with a 49-29 win over Fort Vancouver. Before the game seniors Kat Deveira, Katelyn Henson, Kayla Roche and Melissa Williams were honored for the excellence that they have exhibited over the past four years. On the court Lauren Neff had 11 points, while Kendra Preuninger and Roche kicked in 9 points each. Sydney Schwartz added 10 rebounds and Sydney Allen had a complete game with 6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 1 blocked shot. Congratulations seniors and thank you for four great years!
 
Shorthanded Papermakers overcome Heritage
Playing without two starters due to illness, the Papermakers showed great determination in beating Heritage 42-39 on Monday night. Led by Kendra Preuninger's 20 points and Sydney Schwartz's 15 rebounds the Papermakers led start to finish and held on down the stretch for the win. The JV and freshman teams also won giving Camas a program sweep. Great job! Next up is Friday night at Mountain View. 
 
Papermakers dominate second half to beat Bay
Facing a seven point halftime deficit, the Papermakers came out with agressive defense in the 3rd and 4th quarter to outscore Hudson's Bay 34-10 in the second half en route to a 49-32 league win. The papermakers had ten players score in the victory. Lauren Neff had 9 points and 9 rebounds, while junior Sydney Schwartz added 6 point and 12 rebounds off the bench. The JV continued their torrid play with a 63-10 victory. Meanwhile, the freshman lost a heartbreaking, overtime game 38-34. Next up is Prairie on Saturday.
 
 
Strong third quarter propels Papermakers over River
After a lackluster first half, the Papermakers awoke in the 3rd quarter to outscore Columbia River 25-6 and break the game open at Camas on Tuesday. Eleven players scored in the 56-22 win. The JV team also dominated with a 56-27 victory. Meanwhile the freshman team erased a large first quarter deficit but came up a point short in their game at River. Next up is Thursday versus Hudson's Bay. It also marks our second Camas Junior Girls Basketball Association night as all of our youth team will be in attendance. See you there!
 
 
Papermakers complete sweep of Hockinson
All three high school teams beat Hockinson on Thursday in impressive fashion. The freshman team won the Kelso holiday tournament with a 22 point third quarter that led to a dominating 36-9 win. The JV continued their strong play with a 63-25 victory. Finally, the varsity led start to finish in a 66-26 win. Kendra Preuninger poured in 17 points, while seniors Melissa Williams and Kayla Roche added 14 and 13 points respectively. Great job everyone! Next up, is a league game versus Columbia River at Camas on Tuesday night.
 
 
Papermakers beat Washougal 48-41
Missed layins, poor free throw shooting and foul trouble all plagued the Papermakers on Tuesday night but in the end the team found a way to get a 48-41 victory over Washougal. Sophomore Lauren Neff came off the bench to score 13 points, collect 12 rebounds and block 2 shots. Senior Melissa Williams contributed 9 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots. Both the JV and freshman teams won as well to complete the program sweep. Nice job Papermakers! Next up is Hockinson at home this Thursday.
 
 
Big Sis/ Lil Sis Christmas party a success!
The Big sis/ Lil Sis Christmas party was full of food, fun and gifts! With over fifty kids present the program once again demonstrated great support for one another from top to bottom. Special thanks to Coach Roche and Coach Jones for their effort in pulling off a great gathering!
 
 
Papermakers fall at Battleground
Despite erasing a 12 point 3rd quarter deficit, the Papermakers fell short 53-46 to Battleground in the Championship game of the Battleground Holiday Tournament. With the score tied at 46 with under two minutes to play the Tigers scored seven straight points at the free throw line to win the game. Battleground won the game at the line going 19-27 while Camas was 6-11. Kendra Preuninger had 15 points in the defeat. Congrats to the JV team winning the JV championship of the tournament after a 33-29 win over Battleground!
 
 
 
 
Williams dominates in win over Ridgefield
Melissa Williams filled up the stat sheet in Camas's 52-27 win over Ridgefield at Battleground High School. Williams scored 16 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, had 4 steals and 3 blocked shots. Ten other players scored in the victory. The Papermakers will now face Battleground in the finals of the Battleground Holiday Classic tomorrow night.
 
Papermakers stage 2nd half comeback to beat Fort
After trailing by eight points at halftime and twelve points during the 3rd quarter, the Papermakers finally got going and outscored Fort Vancouver 35-13 during the last 12 minutes of the game to go 2-0 in league play. Sophomores Kyla Sumpter and Lauren Neff combined for 19 points off the bench and Junior Sydney Allen had a complete game with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Senior Melissa Williams continued her solid play with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals despite being hampered by foul trouble throughout most of the game. Next up is Ridgefield at the Battleground Holiday Classic.
 
 
2nd quarter defensive intensity fuels Papermaker win over Kelso
Monday's 65-45 win over Kelso was fueled by a great defensive effort in the second quarter. Playing  pressure packed defense, the Papermakers outscored Kelso 23-9 en route to a 40-21 halftime lead. The tight defense led to many fast break opportunities at the other end. Junior Sydney Allen poured in a career high 17 points, senior Melissa Williams dominated with 12 points and 14 rebounds and sophomore Kyla Sumpter came off the bench to add 12 points. Next up is Friday night at Fort Vancouver.
 
 
 
 
Team effort gets the job done at Union
The Papermakers had eleven players score in a 48-21 win over Union on Wednesday night. Led by a tenacious defensive effort the Papermakers took a 30-11 lead into the locker room at half time and cruised to victory. Senior Kat Devera led a balanced attack with 9 points. The JV and freshmen team also won against Union to complete the program sweep! Next up is the league opener against Kelso at home this Monday night.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Camas falls short in opener versus Storm 40-36
The Papermakers led Skyview throughout most of the game, but fell short in the 4th quarter as the Storm were able to escape Camas with a hard-fought 40-36 win in the opener for both teams. Skyview, who has won two straight Greater St. Helens 4A league championships outscored Camas 14-6 in the final stanza. The papermakers displayed outstanding defense and team work throughout the game. Sophomore Kenra Preuninger had 16 points and Melissa Williams added 8 points and 12 rebounds. Next up is Union on Wednesday night. 
 
 
 
 
 
Camas Girls Basketball Big Sis/Little Sis Program is a huge success!
On December 1st all of our high school teams and CJGBA teams got together for pizza in order to kick off our Camas Girls Basketball Big Sis/Little Sis program. No less then 71 players packed the restaurant and matched up with a sister. The night was filled with food, fun and lots of great bonding between the players in our high school program with the players in our youth program. This Monday, December 13th marks our first Camas Junior Girls Basketball Association night where all youth players wearing there shooting shirts get into the game versus Kelso for free. 
 
 
 Hoops for Pink Night February 4th
Our Hoops for Pink Night this year will be February 4th against Mt. View. Lets make this year and even better success then last year!
