SLOPPY JOE INVADES BELLATOR!

SLOPPY JOE INVADES BELLATOR THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!

It's been a long time coming but what started as a regular guy looking for a way to recover from a motorcycle accident and drop some lbs in the process has slowly but surely, and bloodily, built up momentum and become a movement.. A big, stinky, SLOPPY movement...

315 pound Joseph Lamoureaux began at South Shore Sportfighting looking to get in shape, the idea of actual competition was never really on his radar. As the days and weeks passed and Joe's training evolved (i use the term "evolved" loosely) he began to realize that he posessed the type of heart and consistency needed to flourish at SSSF or as he puts it, "I really liked this sh*t!".

Joseph thrived on the physical aspects involved with training. He had never been involved with organized sports before. He loved always trying to push harder in workouts and take his body to new places and as such, the pounds began melting off. Being a big, strong, highly-durable guy who wasn't afraid to take a beating made him a favorite sparring partner, aka punching bag, of many of SSSF's top pros at the time. Former AFO champ, Pat "Thunder Kitten" Thompson, UFC vet Josh Grispi and even heavyweights like Eric Foley and Paul Barry have all left their share of leather on Joseph's face.

Soon enough Joseph began holding his own and developed a style that not only allowed him to survive the SSSF shark tank, but also began allowing him to leave some leather of his own on guys' faces. What he lacked in athleticism, he made up for with heart, conditioning an the ability to eat a punch and smile. It wasn't pretty.. and often times resembled nothing remotely close to an actual "technique" or "style" but it worked. This is right around the time when the "Sloppy" moniker was given to Joseph by his teammates.

In January of 2010, "Sloppy" Joe walked down the aisle for his first amateur fight in Braintree, Mass and just before he entered the cage he stopped, looked at his fans and let out a bellowing war-scream.. Thus, "Sloppy Joe" was born.

Due to his charisma and swing for the fences style, Sloppy quickly became a local fan favorite and took part in some of the most entertaining amateur fights New England had ever seen. After winning an amateur title belt, Sloppy soon turned pro where he again defied the odds and sloppily forged himself a winning record.

In the spring of 2012, Sloppy became the Cage Fighting Xtreme champion with an impressive come from behind KO over tough veteran Robby Roberts and his loyal fans, The "Sloppy Seconds", who come out for every fight went wild.

This Friday night at The Ryan Center in Rhode Island, now 185 pound Sloppy Joe will take on highly touted former UFC competitor Dan Cramer on the biggest stage he's fought on to date, Bellator Fighting Championships. Going in with a nothing-to-lose attitude and his "Sloppy Seconds" behind him, Sloppy Joe intends on fighting his ass off and like always, having a grand old time in the process. When asked to comment on the upcoming bout and whether or not his "Sloppy" style could be effective in the Bellator arena, Sloppy Joe simply said this, "I'm not good at anything but i'll try everything... twice a round."

You can still get tickets for Friday night's fight at the front desk of SSSF or by contacting Sloppy Joe through his facebook page.

We hope to see you there!
