McVANNEL RECEIVES HOCKEY MANITOBA SCHOLARSHIP
The Central Plains Capitals of the MFMHL are proud to announce that Taylor McVannel of MacGregor has been selected by Hockey Manitoba to receive a $750.00 Hockey Manitoba Scholarship. The Award recognizes Taylor's accomplishments as a hockey player but also as a Student and is to be utilized to further her education after High School.
Taylor has been a tremendous contributor to the Female Caps Program over her 3 years scoring 82 points (35 goals and 47 assists) in 117 games played. Taylor was utilized on both the penalty kill and power play and was a strong 2-way player who did some of her best work in the tough parts of the rink, the corners. Over her Midget career she won two Scholastic Awards and was also named the Most Improved Player with the Caps and was part of the Central Region Hockey Team at the 2010 Manitoba Games that came away with the Gold Medal. Taylor has carried a 94% average in school the past 2 seasons and at this time has registered to attend the University of Manitoba in the fall.
Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen states "Taylor has always been a hardworking hockey player who thinks about team ahead of personal goals. She has demonstrated that you can be both an athlete and a student at a high level if you apply yourself and put in the effort. Along with the entire Caps organization I wish to congratulate Taylor on receiving this Award and wish her all the best in her future endeavors. We are proud of her accomplishments on and off the ice, it is something we ask our players to take very seriously."
