Summer League Wrap-Up and Moving Forward
The summer season officially ended on Saturday at the University of Washington team camp. Before that our teams competed in the highly competitive Southridge, Prairie and Oregon City tournaments. All told the team played approximately 20 games and learned a great deal about itself. Without question the team has a lot of work to do before the real season. At the same time their are many quality basketball players that provide excellent hope for the coming season. After losing Sydney Allen, Tatum Schroeder and Jenka Stiasna their will be many doubters for sure. To the coaches and players that's fine. Our response: Keep doubting us! See you in November!
Summer League 2012 Begins!
This summer our teams will compete in the best tournaments in the area. First off is the Southridge Summer Kick off, followed by the Prairie Cascades Tournament and then the Oregon City River City Classic. The June season ends with team camp at the University of Washington. Last summer was a huge reason for the success the program enjoyed this past season. This summer promises to be the same as we continue to seek out playing the best possible teams. See you on the court!
2012 Ends WIth Winningest Team in School History
The 2011-12 Camas High School girls basketball season ended Saturday night with tears and hugs. After losing a hard-fought 53-43 decision to fourth ranked Franklin of Seattle the team reflected back on what a great season it was. For only the second time in school history the team reached the final 16. Additionally, the 19 wins are the most in school history for a single season. Most impressively though was this team was a team that did it right. It worked hard, played together and possessed a team first attitude from the first day of practice to the last buzzer of the last game. Congratulations on such a great year!
Sydney Allen earns all-region honorable mention honors!
Hats off to Sydney Allen for being named to the Columbians all-region girls basketball team. The honor is a well deserved ending to her high school basketball career. Congrats Syd!

Congratulations to Senior Sydney Allen for earning first team all-league honors and Jenka Stiasna for earning second team all-league honors as voted by league coaches! Way to go Syd and Jenk!
Camas Set to Take on Franklin for Trip to State
The papermakers are one game away from the "Dome". Standing in the way is 21-3, fourth ranked Franklin of Seattle who comes into the game riding a 17 game win streak. It's not about who you play but rather how you play that counts. Game time is set for 6:00 PM at Bellevue College in Bellevue, WA. Good luck ladies!
Camas knocks off 6th ranked Lakes
Sydney Allen scored 21 points and Sierra Brown came off the bench for 16 as the Papermakers knocked off 6th ranked Lakes 59-55 on Monday. The team will now play 4th ranked Franklin on Saturday night with the winner headed to the Tacoma dome and the State tournament. Game time is set for 6:00 PM at Bellvue College. Hope you can make the road trip to support the girls. Congratulations Papermakers and keep it going!
Papermakers headed to final 16 for first time since 1978
Congratulations fo the Camas girls basketball team for getting to the regional round of the the state basketball tournament. After taking third ranked Wilson to the brink in a 43-40 loss on Friday, the team bounced back for a 53-45 win over Bremerton to earn a shot at a state tournament birth next Saurday. The Papermakers will face Lakes Monday in a seeding game for Saturday. Good luck Camas!
Camas Gets Opening Round Win at Bi-Districts
The Papermakers won a thriller on Wednesday night at Clover Park High School in Lakeland by defeating a tough Enumclaw team by the score of 57-56 in overtime. Senior Sydney Allen was the hero as she sank a free throw with 0.9 seconds remaining after grabbing an offnensive rebound and getting fouled on the putback. Jenka Stiasna added 12 points, and Sierra Brown came off the bench for 7 points and double digit rebounds. The win marked the first win for a Camas girls basketball team at bi-districts since at least the 1978 season. Next up is #3 ranked Wilson of Tacoma on Friday at 4:30 at Clover Park High School. Camas opens ups against Enumclaw at Bi-Districts
The Camas Papermakers will face the Enumclaw Hornets in a loser out game at 6:00 at Clover Park High School in Lakewood, Wa. The winner will play Friday evening versus Wilson and then again on Saturday with a state birth reached by winning one of those two weekend games. Good luck Papermakers in your quest to reach state!
Papermakers reach District Final for third straight year
Congratulations to the Camas Girls for a 54-43 win over Kelso on Thursday night. With the victory the program reached the district finals for the third consecutive year. Sydney Allen had 17 points, Jenka Stiasna 13 and Brenna Khaw 12 as the team overcame a 13-4 deficit at the end of the first quarter. Next up is the District Championship game Friday night at 6:00 at Fort Vancouver High School!
Camas finishes 2nd in league
Sydney Allen scored 19 points and Jenka Stiasna finished with a double double in points and rebounds as the Papermakers beat Kelso 48-45 to finish in 2nd place in league. With the win the Papermakers finished the regular season with one of the best records in school history at 15-6. Allen nailed two clutch free throws with 9 seconds left to seal the victory. The team will now play on Thursday night at Fort Vancouver High School at 6:00 versus either Kelso or Mt. View. With a win in that game the Papermakers would play Prairie in the district championship game for the third straight year. Good luck ladies!
Papermakers finish regular season with win
The Camas Papermakers finished one of the most successful seasons in school history with a 52-46 victory over Mt. View. The win gave the team a 14-6 record. Jenka Stiasna finished with 18 points and 7 rebounds despite spraining an ankle half way through the third quarter. Kendra Preuninger added 12 points and 4 rebounds. Monday night the Papermakers will play Kelso in order to break a second place tie. Game time is 5:30 at Prairie High School.
Seniors honored in win over Bay
Tuesday night was extra special as the Papermakers celebrated the successes of seniors Sydney Allen and Tatum Schroeder on senior night. Bolting out to a 25-3 first quarter lead the team cruised to a 70-25 victory. Senior Allen poured in 23 points and freshman Brenna Khaw added 10. Next up is the Prairie Falcons Friday night.
Papermakers roll against Fort and River
On Thursday, the varsity, JV and frosh all took care of business at Fort Vancouver. Saturday, with the freshman not playing the JV and varsity won at Columbia River. Next up is Hudson Bay on Tuesday. Seniors Sydney Allen and Tatum Schroeder will be recongnized as it is senior night. It is also CJGBA night as all junior program players will receive free admission into the game. See you there!
Clean Sweep on Hoops for Pink Night
The Papermakers did great things both on and off the court on Friday. Off the court the teams brought awareness to the need for breast cancer research. On the court, he Papermakers capped off an eventful evening as the freshman, JV and varsity all won! The night included tributes to those who are currently battling breast cancer as well as those who have survived it. Included in the evening were raffles, auctions and half time basketball games with the junior basketball teams. Thanks to Patti Brown for all her hard work in organzing a fabulous event!
Hoops for Pink night is this Friday
This Friday will be the third annual Hoops for Pink night at Camas High School. The Papermakers will be taking on Mountain View as both teams will be wearing their pink uniforms. The JV girls will play at 4:00, followed by the varsity boys at 5:30 and then finally the varsity girls at 7:00. Please come out and support a very worthy cause!

Papermakers Hold on for One Point Non-league Win
Playing their 4th game in 8 days, and 8th game in 14 days the Camas girls showed some grit and hung on for a tough 36-35 win at Heritage on Monday night. Seniors ruled for Camas as Sydney Allen and Tatum Schroeder combined for 22 of the teams 36 points. The win completed a sweep for the program as the JV and freshman teams also recorded victories. Great job Camas!
Papermakers use defense to get win
Sydney Allen had 16 points and Sierra Brown added 10 as Camas beat Hudson's Bay 57-11 on Thursday night. It was defense, however that got the job done as the team worked together to make it very diifcult on the opponent. Next up is Prairie on Saturday at 5:30 at Camas.
Camas gets by Columbia River
Jenka Stiasna scored 20 ofher 26 points in the first half as they Papermakers beat Columbia River 71-32 on Tuesday night. The team focsued on offensive execution and teamwork in the victory. Sydney Allen added 15 points and Kendra Preuninger added 12. Next up is Thursday at Hudson's Bay.
Papermakers finish Nike Interstate Shootout with 2-2 record
With wins over South Eugene and Pendelton and tough losses to South Salem and Tualatin, Camas finished 7th out of sixteen teams at the Nike Interstate Shootout. The team is hopeful that the tough competition will help to ready them for league play which begins Tuesday night at home against Columbia River.
Papermakers open Nike Interstate Shootout with win
The Camas Papermakers beat South Eugene of Oregon 56-45 in the opening round of the Nike Interstate Shootout on Tuesday. Jenka Stiasna, Tatum Schroeder and Kendra Preuninger combined for 35 points. The trio had 20 of their 35 in the decisive fourth quarter where Camas outscored South 21-7 to pull away down the stretch. Next up is South Salem at 5:00 Wednesday in second round action.
Varsity opens Nike Interstate Shootout against South Eugene
The Camas Papermakers will play at 11:30 AM against the South Eugene Axewomen at Lakeridge High School on Tuesday, December 27th in the first round of the Nike Interstate Shootout. The tournament will continue with games Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Good Luck Papermakers!
Strong Defense Leads to Victory Over Hockinson
On CJGBA night the junior teams watched the Papermakers use strong defense and transition offense to overcome previously undefeated Hockinson 56-27 on Monday night. Seniors Sydney Allen and Tatum Schroeder led the way. Allen had a complete game with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots while playing stellar defense. Schroeder had 10 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Meanwhile junior Sierra Brown had another strong game with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Next up for the Papermakers is South Eugene at the Nike Interstate Shootout in Lake Oswego on December 27th.
Papermakers beat Fort Vancouver
Sierra Brown had 16 points, and Kimi Knight and Paige Jackson added 10 each as Camas beat visiting Fort Vancouver 59-19 on Friday night. Next up is Hockinson on Monday night on Camas Junior Girls Basketball Association night. All CJGBA players are admitted free. Come root the Papermakers on!
Papermakers win league opener
The Camas girls basketball team led from start to finish as they opened league play with a 52-35 win over Kelso. Kendra Preuninger had 10 of her game high 15 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Camas scoring. Seniors Sydney Allen and Tatum Schroeder added 13 points and 10 pointts each. Next up for the Papermakers is Fort Vancouver at home on Friday night.
Papermakers Beat Rival Union 52-38
Sydney Allen scored 11 of her game high 15 points in the second half, along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Jenka Stiasna added 12 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocked shots and Lauren Neff added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocked shots as the Camas girls got their first win of the season. Tough defense was the key as the Papermakers held Union to 4 points in the fourth quarter. Next up is the league opener against Kelso on Monday night!
Lots of Fun at the Big Sis/Lil Sis Get to know you Party
There were lots of laughs and good times at the 2011-12 Big Sis/Lil Sis Get to know you Pizza Party. Seniors all the way down to 3rd graders ate pizza, learned about their sisters, played games and had an all-around good time. What a great way to kick off the coming season!

Season Opener December 1st at Skyview
The Camas girls basketball team will open the season Thursday, December 1st against the three time defending 4A league champion Skyview Storm. Last year the two teams met with Skyview winning 40-36. The Storm return all but one player from last year and should be one of the stronger teams in the state this year. Game time is 7:00, with frosh at 4:00 and JV at 5:30. Come support the Papermakers as they kick off another season of basketball!
Tryout Information
Camas Girls Basketball tryouts will be Monday, November 14th, Tuesday, November 15th and Wednesday November 16th. Please make sure to take care of all items necessary in ordered to be cleared for winter sports- don't wait until the last minute!
Clearance Information!
An athlete must have a current physical (good for two years from the date of the exam), a concussion form, a medical emergency form, and must have purchased his/her ASB card and paid the athletic fee before the first practice. Some sports have try-outs for the team and in that case the ASB card and fee must be paid when the athlete makes the team.
In order for the athlete to self-carry and self-administer medication for asthma or severe allergies the Authorization for Administration of Medication Form must be completed by the licensed health care provider and the parent/legal guardian.
All completed forms are to be turned in a the Athlete Office.

Fall Basketball Completed!
The Camas Papermakers girls basketball team finished fall league play at Concordia with a 6-0 record. Meanwhile the JV/Frosh team was 4-4. Much thanks to Cliff Sandumorov for coaching the teams and running open gym sessions. Now the real fun is about to begin!
CJGBA Practices Starting Soon
The Camas Junior Girls Basketball Association will be starting practices November 1st. Our junior program is an outstanding way for younger players to get prepared for playing basketball at Camas High School. Our program includes approximately 35 games in various tournaments in the area, top notch coaching that includes the high school coaching staff as well as some practices with the high school team, clinics with Coach Knight, the popular Big Sis/Lil Sis program, two games where players can meet with the varsity team in the locker room before the game, free admission into two varsity games, free ACL injury prevention training with Washougal Sport and Spine and an end of the season beach trip tournament. If you are a young baller come be a part of a great program!
