Bartlett, Tn -The Bartlett High School Lady Panthers soccer program united once more in the Bartlett library on Wednesday afternoon as one of their own made official her college plans. With a full heart and a few strokes of a pen, Bartlett goalkeeper Anna Venckus sealed her commitment to join fellow Senior Stella Gill as a member of the Union Bulldogs soccer program next year.
Bartlett Head Coach Robby Midyett was incredibly proud of Venckus’ many accomplishments anchoring the Panthers’ defense in front of the net. “Like other defensive positions, being a goalkeeper doesn’t get the attention often like offensive ones. More than that, you’re often either the hero or considered otherwise. Anna has never shied away from the responsibility of the goalkeeping position. ”said Midyett.
” In four years, I never once had to wonder about or question her work ethic. Anna has always gone over and above in her dedication to improve and grow as a player. It’s that drive to succeed I know will serve her well at the next level.”
Venckus was beaming as she soaked it all in. “I just have to thank Coach Robby, my family, and all my teammates for supporting me not just today but throughout this journey. I also want to thank Coach Kiser, my first competitive soccer coach, who first put me at goalkeeper.”
