Coach Comments and Philosophy: Coach Belde stated he wanted to clear the air as there has been some rumbling around the rink with regards to Coach Shasby being an All Star coach. Coach Belde will be making final decisions on teams. He will be looking at their level of play and their work ethic as well as behavior on and off the ice. He has high expectations on and off the ice and in school. Kids are expected to be polite before and after games. Locker rooms must be cleaned after each practice otherwise they will skate.
Coach Belde stated he is up front and to the point. Sometimes this can be construed as “blunt” but he is being honest without hurting their feelings with the kids. He will also be honest with parents.
Coach Belde explained his philosophy regarding both the JV and Varsity programs at South. His job is to develop kids so they can play at the varsity level. Last year there were initially four (4) freshman at the start of the season and five (5) by the end of the season. There are opportunities this season for the younger players to play on varsity. There are 12 JV spots and about 10 are fighting for the JV/Varsity window. He will look at attitude, aggressiveness and not afraid to get physical as well as their offensive and defensive capabilities.

Information:
**We recommend that every player order a South hoody and polo. There will be team functions that they may all wear them to. They also will occasionally wear the polo with black slacks and black shoes to school on game days instead of shirts and ties. Track suits are required and are paid for by the booster club IF you are a freshman OR new to the team. All returning players that need a new one are responsible for paying for their own, that cost is $90.00.
