Sophomore outside hitter, Griffin Hewett, has committed to play volleyball for Meredith College for the Fall 2013 Season. Hewett, from Bolivia, NC, will join the Avenging Angels along with former BCC defensive specialist Mattie Tippett from Shallotte, NC. "It is great to see Griffin and Mattie go onto play their sport at the next level. They are very hard working and dedicated players and will be great additions to the Meredith team", said Assistant Coach Judy Cuppernull.

Hewett, a graduate of Saint Mary's Prep School in Raleigh, earned dual degrees at Brunswick Community College of Associate in Arts and Associate in Science. She will also play for the Meredith lacrosse team, and plans to study pre-veterinary medicine. She was BCC's first recipient of the "Dolphin of the Month" Award earlier this year. This award is granted to a student who demonstrates exemplary conduct, strong academic performance, as well as campus and community involvement.

Griffin is the daughter of Virginia Varnum and Timmy Hewett.
