FINEST TAKES 3 SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS

Allan Thomas - Almighty 18u MVPThe 18u Finest squad underwent a very successful this summer.   While getting better and working on their game, they took the Go Hard or Go Home 18u/Varsity defeating DSA/Campus Magnet HS in the finals, Top 5 Classic going undefeated and winning the championship vs. Big Wayne's All-Stars & finally overtaking Hood Squad Queens in the Almighty Force Championship, where they were behind the entire game, but they stayed in it and tied the game with 13 seconds left had the last possession, and it was the final inbound played that won the game in an inbound pass from Stephon Hodges to Sheldon Jones, who was unselfish enough to find Arthur Abbensett on the fast break finishing the score to go up 52-50, and Allan Thomas coming up with a steal off the inbound with 4 seconds left to throw it down and seal the 54-50 win.  Michael Bruce walked away with MVP at Go Hard or Go home, while showing why he is probably one of the best transition shooters around and strong finisher from both ends, and he is not at Chaffey College in California, while Allan Thomas earned MVP honors in Top 5 Classic and Almighty Force, while having a strong all around and consistent performance all summer inside and outside.  Darwyn Lynch who was a big part of our run in Go Hard or Go Home and Top 5 Classic, now at Westchester Community College. It was a tremendous run but a great bunch who between Presano Bell and Arthur Abbensett having a strong performance around the board, Allan Thomas all around, Stephon Hodges on the ball maintenance, distribution and drives on finishes when needed, Sheldon Jones on strong drives, outside shots and crucial runs on inbound plays, Roya Blair Jr, showing his defensive expertise, Darin Marshall on his offensive spurs, Isiah Lee on his versatile approach to his game and contributions from different ends, Isaiah Stephenson on his consistent outside shooting, as well as the rest of the crew Stephen Nwaukoni, who continues to get stronger and better, Reginald Azemar, now at Queensborough Community College, Corey Porter who at one point or another had their key contributions. Congratulations on a very consistent and successful summer 2007 & best of luck in their upcoming high school seasons.
