Chiefs Defeat East Rutherford to Advance to Championship

     West Lincoln MS Chiefs fired up the offense in the first inning, when Kaitlyn Carpenter's sac fly scored one run for West Lincoln MS Chiefs.  In the bottom of the first inning, East Rutherford MS tied things up at one when Willow Hardin singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  There was plenty of action on the base paths as West Lincoln MS Chiefs collected 17 hits and East Rutherford MS had 11, in what turned out to be an instant classic.
    West Lincoln MS Chiefs tried to pull away for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Abree Sutton tripled on a 3-0 count, scoring one run, Quinlyn Avery doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Kaylin Pardo singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  East Rutherford MS came back and scored five runs of their own in the third inning.  East Rutherford MS's big inning was driven by singles by Jayden Padgett and Caitlyn Allen, a walk by Jaylen Stacey, a fielder's choice by Kate Swain, and a double by Cassie McFarland.  West Lincoln MS Chiefs put up nine runs in the fourth inning, to pull away for good. West Lincoln MS Chief's big inning was driven by singles by Melony Hoffman, Payton Hood, Kaylin Pardo, Danilyn Lewis, and Carpenter and a double by Avery.
     Milah Parrott started the game for West Lincoln MS Chiefs. The righty lasted two and a third innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out one.  Bailey Lewis was the winning pitcher for West Lincoln MS Chiefs. The southpaw lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and zero runs while striking out one and walking zero.  Chloe Adair took the loss for East Rutherford MS, as she allowed six hits and four runs over three and a third innings, striking out two and walking zero.
     West Lincoln MS Chiefs totaled 17 hits in the game. Avery, Sutton, Lewis, Pardo, Carpenter, Hoffman, and Gabrielle Wright each managed multiple hits for West Lincoln MS Chiefs. Avery led West Lincoln MS Chiefs with three hits in four at bats.  East Rutherford MS racked up 11 hits on the day. Hardin, McFarland, Adair, and Padgett all collected multiple hits for East Rutherford MS.
