Twenty players from 16 different graduating classes competed in the First Annual Alumni Softball Game at West Lincoln High School on Saturday. The field included Robin McSwain Heafner (1977), Shelley Hoyle Smith (1991), Haylee Huss Harrelson (1996), Abby Dellinger Avery (1997), Tiffany Maynor Goins (1999), Shana Black Cook (2006), Nicki Walker Elks (2009), Ashely Rhyne Houser (2010), Brittany Ormond Carroll, Rylee Marsh Pittman (2013), Madison Ferguson (2015), Raeven McCrodden and Erin Huff Young (2016), Meredith Ferguson (2017), Adison Rhyne (2018), Sydney Burgin and Kinsley Gilmore (2019), Gracie Ledford (2020) and Emma Bumgarner and Morgan Chapman (2021). The score ended up 4-2 in favor of the even numbered years, with a little help from the odd. Hamburgers and hotdogs were provided after the game, and a good time was had by all. The Lady Rebels softball program got to show off the new facility, press box, cage building, backstop, etc. from funding provided by the Timken Grant. “Everyone had a chance to walk through and see the new facility,” said current head coach Allan Chapman. Former head coach and current assistant Alan Hoyle was in attendance, as was former assistant Rylee Marsh Pitman, who pitched for her team.
