The Lady Hoyas Softball Program is privileged to announce that Melanie Bennett will be joining the coaching staff for the upcoming 2024 season. Bennett will join the coaching staff after completing her playing career at Kennesaw State University. During her tenure with the Owls, she was named the ASUN Freshman of the Year, 1st Team All-Conference, and the Pitcher of the Week on four occasions. Bennett made 149 appearances accumulating 586 strikeouts while notching a 2.51 ERA and holding opposing hitters to a mere .244 average. She made 94 career starts in which she posted a school record 63 complete games with 59 wins, 13 shutouts, and 9 saves in relief.
Prior to her career at KSU, Bennett was a standout player at Allatoona High School where she was named to the All-State and All-Region Teams twice and was named the 2018 Region 6A Pitcher of the Year. She helped lead the team to the State Playoff Semifinals, a Region Championship, and threw both a no-hitter and a perfect game. She also played with the Atlanta Vipers and helped the team claim the 18U Southeast National Championship in 2018.
