CHARLES JENKINS EARNS CAA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK AT HOSFTRA UNIVERSITY

Charles Jenkins (Queens, NY/Springfield Gardens HS/NYC Finest - pictured) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office.
Jenkins had a key role in the Pride's 73-71 overtime win over Manhattan on Saturday in its only game of the week. He finished with 19 points on 7-12 shooting from the floor and 4-4 shooting from the foul line.
His four foul shots were also all made under pressure situations. He hit two from the line in the final minute of regulation to put the Pride ahead 61-59. After the Jaspers forced overtime with 1.1 seconds left in regulation, then made two more foul shots in the closing seconds of the extra session, after he stole an inbounds pass with Hofstra leading 71-69. He made both foul shots to stretch the lead to four points and seal the victory.
Jenkins is currently second on the Pride in scoring with 12.0 points per game. He shared the CAA Rookie of the Week honor with Chaisson Allen of Northeastern, while Will Thomas of George Mason was named the Player of the Week.
