AP, Haverstraw, August 2, coverage provided by the Bird-Pool:   The Eagles knocked off the Dead Heads in their only meeting this season and now own that tiebreaker if it comes down to equal records amongst these 2 squads.

The 29 hit, 2 walk attack was composed by every Bird getting 1 or more hits. Leading the crowd was Mike R's 2 round-trippers, both towering shots over the new left field triple height new fence installed, and the other well to the right of the 'golden' tree. Mike went 4-4, 4 runs, 3 rbi; William R was 3-3, 3 rbi; Brian G had what is becoming habit forming 3-4, 3 rbi; and SS Wilkin J was 3-4.      Not to be lost, but these 3 have climbed the ladder, Craig V after a very difficult first half season remains on fire in the second half; Jeff L continues his on base percentage raising during the last 6 games; and Joe R who spent 4 weeks on the DL when making one of his famous out-reaching dives, turned in a 2-4, 2 runs, 2 rbi showing.     Following the NY Yankees Pitching Rotation, the duel tandem of starter George Vansise (another win) and Elvis Minaya (another save) are following suit. George went 6 inns and kept the Heads off stride before turning over the save to Elvis, who gave up 3 meaningless runs in 3 innings.
