Division 2-D

Deadheads win! Theeeee DEADHEADS win!
Heads defeat the pesky “ Hooligans “ and sweep (3-0) the season series. This one wasn’t easy as a full squad ( for a change) of Hooligans battled back to tie the game at 8 apiece before heads “exploded “ for 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th. The Defense held on in the 9th to turn out the lights on the “ Halogens”.

The Eagles and Knights went through a tense first 3 inns in an already tense 1 game Elimination Playoff game, Round 1. The see saw battle went Eagles-Knights, down 0-2, up 3-2, down 5-3, tied 5-5, after 3 inns, a barn-burner under way. Then the flying Eagles closed it out, 8-5, 5 inns, up 8-7, 7 inns, ut oh....up 9-7, 8 inns, .....still tense ....and then hold on to win, 9-7.... the Skipper did not need the EMT, but came  close to making the call.

The first 5 batters were 11-18, 7 rbi, all 9 runs, and carried the load. For example, the team had 14 his, 11 by the first 5 batters, who also scored all runs. George was magnificent in pitching, 9 inns 7 runs, and hit 3-4, 2 runs, 2 rbi.  Offensively, Mike R hit a Towering as well as Far, a 2-run HR. George and Wilkin had 3 hits each. Craig added 2 hits.  Defensely, Wilkin handled 10 chances with no errors. A play for the yearbooks', goes to Mike L, from second base, ran in to bare hand a ground ball and off balance threw to first to get the Out, like wow. Not to be out done, Crain V made a patten shoe-string catch from running deep center to infield grass. like wow.   Again, the Birds appreciate the cheers from Eagle Chief Cheer Leader Ellen, especially as she passes on the worms and more for the baby birds to have for breakfast.
