GAME SUMMARIES

Division 2-D

Game 2 of 3: Eagles 6 - Thunder 3: After losing a close 7-4 Game 1 in the Best 2 of 3 Division 2 series, the Eagles bounced back in a do-or-die Game 2, to win 6-3, and even the series a game apiece. The Birds jumped out 3-0 and 4-0 in their 2 frames, while the Thunder kept things tight with 2 runs in their second. Not until the top 6th, did the Eagles punch thru 2 runs to take a 6-2 advantage, but the Thunder responded with a run, and to make the final 6-3, each scoring no runs in the 7th.

GAME 3: Best 2 of 3 Division 2 Playoffs: EAGLES 13 - Thunder 6:

With the series tied 1 game apiece, the Birds and Thunder took to the field for the rubber match. The Birds took the second in a row, winning 13-6 and moved onto the Finals. The Eagles led from start to finish with a 4-run first inning and followed by a 7-run second inning romp. Sporaick scoring made the final score 13-6.

The Birds first inning saw Singles by Wilkey Jimenez, brothers George and Craig Vansise, as well as Charlie Fisher; Chris Pellegrinelli doubled, and Joe Raia plus Mike Leote walks jumped started the 4 runs. The hot catch-fire hitting kept going in the bottom 2nd as Singles by Wilkey J, Joe Raia and Ed Kelly were joined by doubles by Mike Romanello and Chris Pellegrinelli; Billy Robinson and George Vansise had walks sandwiched between the hits. Ed Kelly contributed 2-3 and accounted for the 7-run burst.  While the hitting was abundant, so were the Eagles sharp eyes, as 6 players drew 8 walks to go with their 14 hits.

The Offensive drama was provided by Mike Romanello who hit a towering HR that required 4 tape-measures. Defensively, the Swan-diving OFer Joe Raia made another run-dive-catch as he belly-stretched for the awesome catch.   Veteran Master Pitcher Gorge Vansise took to the mound in this nightcap, scattering 6 runs amongst 7 inns work. While errors were kept down, George had to work out of several jams that his teammates caused.
