Dolphins Upset #7 Cape Fear CC

The Brunswick CC Lady Dolphins defeated the #7 Nationally Ranked Sea Devils of Cape Fear this evening 79-74 before one of the largest crowds this season.   The Sea Devils entered the game undefeated with an overall record of 11-0 and 3-0 in conference play.  The Lady Dolphins were 8-5 overall going into the rival game and 2-2 in conference play.

BCC led at the half 40-38, and came out in the second half shooting strong and were ahead 62-49 after a 3-pointer from Crystal Hicks,and layups by Tyesha McLean and Baylee Simpson.  The most dramatic shot of the game came from Crystal Hicks when she put up a 3-pointer well beyond the arc with 2 seconds left on the shotclock to put the Dolphins up 79-74 with 8 seconds remaining in the game.

For the Lady Dolphins, top scorers were Crystal Hicks and Kenedra Smith each with 18, and Tyesha McLean with 16 points along with 5 assists.  Courtney Pearsall played strong under the net and grabbed 14 rebounds as well as 6 points.  Other contributors were Kima Sidberry with 7 points and 5 assists, and Jasmine Corbett with 2 points.

The Sea Devil's top scorers were Eboni Gilliam with 20 points and 16 rebounds, and Kristina Rumplasch with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Shanta Williams also contributed 10 points.
