Baseball Handles East Carolina Club

Bolivia, NC - The BCC Baseball Team (2-2, 0-0) easily handled a double header against East Carolina Club on Sunday, 10-3 and 12-2, after having to cancel Saturday's games due to rain.  In the first game, the Dolphins dominated in the fifth inning scoring six runs, after being down 1-3.  The first run came in the bottom of the first when Pat Graham doubled, to score Bradford Lail.  BCC went on to add three more runs in the sixth.  Nick Debo had a two-run double, bringing home sophomores Jimmy Boyd and Ryan Maksim who have signed to play next year for ECU and Charleston Southern respectively.  Shawn Singletary had a great start to the season, pitching three shutout innings, striking out three, walking none and giving up no hits.

 

In the second game, the Dolphins slammed ECU in the first inning scoring five runs on three doubles, a groundout, and an RBI single.  After both teams scored one run in the second inning, BCC went on another hitting rally in the bottom of the fourth.  Overall for the Dolphins, six hitters combined for 13 hits, 10 RBI's and 10 runs scored.  At the mound, Ben Kerner, a freshman RHP from Cary, NC, held ECU hitless over 3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.

 

The Dolphins will be on the road for the next few weeks to play conference opponents Florence Darlington Tech and USC Lancaster, as well as Muskegon Community College at the Ripken Experience facility in Myrtle Beach, before heading home to Founders Field for a double header with Patrick Henry on March 1st.
