Men's Basketball Team Gains Region X Awards

Bolivia, NC - Despite a tough loss in the Region X Championship Game on Saturday to rival Cape Fear CC, the BCC men's basketball team gained multiple honors by the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Conference.  Cam Jones, a 6'4" sophomore guard, from Roanoke, Virginia, received Region 10 Player of the Year.  Jones, who averaged over 20 points per game, signed a National Letter of Intent last fall to play for Radford University next year.  Montez Loman, a 6'6" sophomore forward, from Boiling Spring Lakes, NC, received Region 10 Defensive Player of the Year.  Loman, who averaged over 8 rebounds per game, had a total 91 blocks and 45 steals for the season, and is being recruited by several four year colleges.

Walter Shaw, Head Men's Basketball Coach

Walter Shaw was named Region 10 Coach of the Year.  Shaw, in his 14th season as head coach of the Dolphins, finished the regular season with a record of 20-12 overall and 7-3 in conference play.  This is Shaw's 10th season in 14 years with a 20+ win record, and third Coach of the Year award, having been named Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2008.
