Women's Basketball Splits over Weekend

The Lady Dolphins split over the weekend at home losing to Guilford Tech Community College on Saturday 60-74, while defeating the Storm of Tidewater Community College on Sunday 70-60.

 

On Saturday, the Lady Dolphins got off to a strong start over the #10 ranked Titans leading most of the first half.  Chantay Smith hit a three point shot with 15 seconds remaining to get to within two points and BCC finished the half trailing 32-33.  Again, the Dolphins came out strong in the second half with a assist from Anasia Evans to Tyesha McLean for a hoop, followed by a steal by McLean for another layup.  But the Titans picked up the pace and outrebounded the Dolphins to get the win.  The Dolphins high scorer was Tyesha McLean with 23 points, followed by Bailey Simpson with 8 points.  Freshman Katrina Brown had 7 points, 4 rebounds and 1 block.  Kenedra Smith had 2 points and 4 rebounds.

 

For Guilford Tech, Marcianna Munn had 20 points, Carnique Marks had 15, Brittnee Roberts had 12, and Bria Byrd contributed 10.

 

On Sunday, the Dolphins took on newcomer Tidewater Community College of Norfolk, Virginia, defeating the Storm 70-60.

 

Late in the fourth quarter, the Lady Dolphins went on a 14-2 run to secure the win.  Crystal Hicks hit five 3 point shots and was the lead scorer with 19.  Tyesha McLean contributed 16 points, while Katrina Brown scored 9.  The Dolphins (5-3) have a week and a half break while preparing for the BCC Holiday Classic December 19-21st.
